Well guys, looks like I made it back for 1 more post. Clearly running above EV when its comes to accomplishing goals and getting things checked off of the "to do list". Is it possible I used reverse psychology on my self, by being upfront in my blog. Stating that I had no plans of posting in my blog on a daily basis, or for that matter probably never again. I completely out played myself! Ha ha! Owned that donk! Completely pwned the procrastinator in me, by just stating upfront, that I had no plans to post again, I relieved any pressure to accomplish something. Posting became something I wanted to do, rather then I feeling like something I needed to do.
I would like to keep this blog a little shorter then the last. I have a lot to do today, and my daughter will be up in the next 30 minutes. I however have a lot I would like to get to, mostly something I have been learning a lot about lately, simple pleasures.
First! However I have something I need to get off my chest! I don't know if it something that is in our human nature, maybe it because of our desires to feel included or part of the community, but it never ceases to amaze me! How often I see newer players,grinders online etc etc, throw around words like ranges,balancing,EV, Fold equity, you know all the basic online poker vocab. But then post a hand that is a clear fold/call, or a clear 4 bet,but they flat call a 3bet oop. I'm sure you have all seen it or even been guilty of it. I know I have. Wait.... NO..... wait for it.... Nope never done it. Ha ha!! Guess what people this isn't middle school! Using big words doesn't make you sound smarter, well actually maybe it does, but NOT if your play is that of an idiot. Don't let your ambitions blind you, just focus on playing properly not trying too fit in or using cool lingo. Come on Man! Lets get with it.
That brings me to heart of this post. Lately I have become a lot more aware of this sort of thing, I guess its my age, getting older and what not. Yup! thats right I just dropped a "what not" anywho,
Have you ever watched the commercials on your wife's, or gfs tv shows. You know one of the shows that is clearly marketed to women, and ever notice how stupid the commercials are? Take for example cleaning products, how light, springy, clean, cozy, warm and fuzzy they make you feel. I find these commercials to be boring and dull, which is good because there marketed to women. However if I flip over to Espn, to watch SVP or SC. I find a lot more of the commercials gravitating, why is this? For example lets take one of the New Car commercials. A beautiful piece of machinery, it gives the appearance of being hand crafted, sleek and sexy lines. The roar of the engines as it powers through a series of S turns, up along a mountain side in the alps somewhere. The woods, the trees, the smell of the fresh air, the sense of adventure. Clearly this commercial is much more appealing to us as man.
As a man, I think an often an overlooked trait that can have a very negative impact on our level of satisfaction, and the happiness that we find in life. Is our ambition.
I was always aware that companies would market to us males, using sex, money, and some of the more obv things. I however never realized how our ambition for success is also a very easily manipulated trait in our psyche. I have often felt the need, to ball, or own lots of things, or to be better then those around me, to own more, to get more, to need more, to feel important. I think a lot of this has been instilled in me from a young age mainly based out of marketing.
As a consumer, we need to be very conscious what is being marketed to us, how we are being marketed to on a daily basis, and not to buy into a hype. As a poker player, or just as person out in the world trying to make a buck. We all need to have a hyper awareness of the many different angles that are out there. How is the house marketing to us, whats there edge, am I psychologically allowing them to have the edge, because my ambition is driving me to get better? Mean while the rest of my life is falling apart? It is very important as I spoke about in my last blog, to keep balance. Balance lends us perspective, Perspective would tell us its the simple pleasures that bring us joy. Its the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and a tall glass of milk, shared with your kids or fam. A hot cup of coffee, the paper, on a quiet cold morning. These simple things, and the people we share them with are what brings satisfaction. One of my favorite quotes says its best. " The Drink is only as good as the company you share it with."

Philadelphia Eagles @ Tampa Bay Over 47
Nick Foles has been named the starter for Eagles for the rest of the season, in last weeks game vs Dallas he had another solid performance. I know its a small sample but in his last two NFL starts, subtracting his first start where nerves clearly played a part Eagles offense averaged 27.5 points. Bryce Brown also with another very good performance rushing for 150 yards +. I believe we will get another solid performance from this duo. Eagles offense is already averaging 3 more points per game with Foles behind center. It would appear that they are back on track offensively. However there Defense has been giving up an average of 32.5 pts per game since there bye week. Tampa on the other hand has been an over machine, hitting the over in there last 8 out of there 10 games. I would expect this trend to continue, mainly due to the fact of Eagles poor defense and Nick Foles gaining confidence in running the offense.
