I will start this blog post, like so many others that have gone before me. This is my first blog post, and therefore I would have every right to write about all my ambitions. All the things I have planned for the blog, all the many reasons I have had this amazing revelation and will to self improve, evolve, into some cool hip blogger person, blogging in the dark corners of a local coffee shop. When in reality this will probably be my first and last blog post. While my ambitions would be and certainly are to write about my life, share stories, to give and to learn, I highly doubt I will have the discipline to continue this up for much longer than a week or 2. So readers be forewarned, if you enjoy this post or my style of writing or sardistic sense of humor (is that even a word?) you will need to let me know, because lets be honest; what are the odds that I keep this thing updated? Probably +1500 that I actually keep this thing going for more than 2 weeks. Haha pry more like +15000, yeah thats more like it.
Oh, what life is that you ask? Nothing really... Just a bunch of things I enjoy; Gambling, stories of spending time with my Hot wife and princess of a daughter, Lessons from the gym, Jet Boating, Competitive Bass Fishing and my journey to reach my ultimate goal, a well known and respected local fishing guide on the Susquehanna River system.
I will try to keep most of my focus on the gambling aspect; however, I believe that fishing and spending time outside, is my first love and a very important part of living a balanced life. I hope to include a Best bet with every blog post. This may be impossible or will at least become more difficult once football is over, due to the fact my NBA and cbb knowledge is severely lacking. Obv will include rants and raves, about my run good, or down swings that I may run into. This of course is all assuming I keep this thing updated long enough to have a swing.
I would like to rant a little. It never ceases to amaze me how we as Poker Players, or just people in general, disconnect mind, body and soul. When in reality we have seen first hand through the world of professional sports, how closely intertwined these things are. For instance, take a look at Micheal Vick, the QB of the Philadelphia Eagles in comparison to the true students of the game, The Mannings, Brady, Brees. It is quite obv that these guys have all the intangibles to succeed at their game. Obv all we see is the finished product, but clearly millions of hours of hard work and studying went into their game planning to become some of the best football players our generations have ever seen. What does this have to do with mind body and soul you may ask? Its simple; you can have all the athletic ability in the world, but if you don't take care of your mind, and keep your mind sharp with lots of studying of film and game tapes etc, you will not be an amazing football player.
OR...... we can switch this around. You can be the sharpest mind in the online poker world, but if we are not taking care of our bodies, our health, you will not be as successful as you could be. Emotionally you have have to be right, physically and mentally. Mind,Body and Soul, I believe this is one the single most overlooked basic life lessons. It could be applied to many different things; poker, fishing, parenting, but when ignored, we will start to lose.
So fellow grinders, if your back hurts, listen to your body and do something about it. If you're not sleeping well, figure out why and fix it . If your liver is screaming out "HELP ME" take a break from the sauce. Live, and eat healthy, exercise daily, and get plenty of rest. You will thank me later.
Now unto the best bet of the week!
Louisville vs Rutgers Under 43
This game airs tonight, 11/29 @ 7:30 est. If Rutgers wins they will cinch first in their division, however if Louisville wins it will be a tie, between Rutgers Louisville, Syracuse, Cinci, Idk something like that. The point is that both teams should show up with good effort. If you take a look at these two teams, starting with the home team which there is always a slight edge to. Rutgers Defense - I would expect a really good performance from them tonight. They have been playing really well all season long and continue to improve. In their last 3 they have given up only 3.8 yds per average rush, and only an average 12 points per game. Lousiville Offensive starter Teddy Bridgewater broke his non throwing wrist last weekend, however, he is expected start. He will be unable to take snaps from under center, shotgun formation only. This should give the advantage to the defense. If we go to the other side of the ball, Rutgers offense, is a heavy dose of rushing, eating up the clock. Both starting qb and rb are banged up but expected to start. On Average rutgers scores only 14 pts a game. Between all the offensive injuries, strong defenses, and cold weather, this is really shaping up to be an old school smash mouth defensive battle, imo.
